A development of 32 apartments in Hereford is soon to be underway as a local housing association continues to provide more new homes for local people.

highmore courtThe cleared site of the former older persons housing scheme at Highmore Court has been bought from Jephson Homes Housing Association by Marches.  Marches Housing Association, a subsidiary company, previously managed the scheme on behalf of the Group.  After Highmore Court became hard to let, the decision was made to demolish the building and redevelop the site with new homes.

The privately financed acquisition and redevelopment will provide 32 two bedroom apartments for rent.  Construction company Thomas Vale has been appointed to build the apartments which will overlook Hereford Racecourse.  The scheme design, by architects Sutton & Wilkinson, includes under-croft parking, contemporary styling and six homes designed specifically for people with disabilities.  The project is due to commence this summer and completed by next summer.

Managing Director, Phil Green said: “We are very excited about this project which is our biggest in Hereford City so far and will provide much needed homes in Hereford.  Despite an unsuccessful bid for funding from the Homes and Communities Agency, the Association is in a good position to continue developing and we’re committed to providing many more new homes in the communities we serve”.
