Marches want each and every resident to live in our communities without fear of:

  • Violence, aggressive or threatening language or behaviour
  • Unreasonable amounts of noise
  • Harassment, particularly because of someone’s race, colour, creed or vulnerability
  • Behaviour which interferes with residents’ quality of life

Marches recognises however, that its residents have a right to choose their lifestyle and will not interfere unless it impacts or could impact on the quality of life of others or is a health and safety issue.

Our Housing Officers spend a large part of their working week dealing with Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) so it is an important part of our service. The general term anti-social behaviour covers a number of different types of behaviour that are considered unacceptable and which may affect the quality of life of others. These can range from garden nuisance, inconsiderate parking, noise and disputes between neighbours to domestic violence and criminal damage. We work with the Police and Environmental Health as well as other agencies such as Social Services to try to resolve issues as effectively as possible. Some cases can be dealt with quickly, while others can take over a year to resolve. Longer cases usually involve some kind of legal action, perhaps taking out an injunction against an offender.

We are exploring ways of improving awareness amongst our residents of who to contact in ASB cases.

Criminal Behaviour should always be reported to the Police on 0300 333 3000 or 999 first.

Offensive/ hate-related graffiti or serious noise nuisance should be reported to Environmental Health (Herefordshire 01432 260000 or Shropshire 03456 789 006), you should also tell the Police.

You can talk confidentially to your Housing Officer or another member of the team regarding any type of anti-social behaviour please contact us by telephone or email. We will let you know who else you need to contact. Speak to a member of the team on 01568 619671.

Sometimes we are not able to take the kind of action that residents want us to take. We understand the anger and distress that all types of ASB can cause but we are not always able to act as quickly as the complainant would like us to. When we receive a complaint of ASB we explain our process and discuss the need to collect evidence. We will then explain the kind of action that is most suitable to take.

We regularly carry out estate inspection with local policing teams looking at environmental issues and sharing information regarding issues on our estates. We would like more residents to join us on these; read our section on Estate Inspections for more information about when and where they are held.
