Supported Housing Print E-mail

PublicHousing_sm.jpgMarches Housing Association aims to provide a wide range of housing solutions including the provision of housing with support.

We own and manage 9 sheltered housing schemes providing support for around 300 older people including a scheme operated jointly with Herefordshire Council-Norfolk House in Leominster which provides support for frail elderly tenants.

We also work in partnership with well-established local care and support providers to assist other groups who need support in their homes.

Examples of supported housing schemes include

  • Supported housing for adults with learning disabilities provided in partnership with the Herefordshire Council
  • Supported housing for people with mental health support needs provided in partnership with Herefordshire MIND.

Paying for Supported Housing

Marches Housing Association is a provider of supported housing including sheltered housing and currently has contracts with Herefordshire Council and Worcestershire County Council who pay the Association to provide this support.

Supporting People is a new way of funding housing related support. It started on 1 April 2003. Tenants who live in supported housing are charged rent plus a service charge, part of which pays for support. Supporting People payments are paid direct to Marches Housing Association so that tenants who are on low incomes do not have to pay these support charges.

Anyone thinking about moving into supported housing and who might be worried about paying for support can find out more about the help that is available by contacting the Association.

We are an Industrial & Provident Society operating under charitable rules.
