EO.01 Equal Opportunities - Broad
Statement of Principle
01.01 Marches Housing
Association is committed to ensuring equality of opportunity
for all those individuals or groups with whom it works.
This means that in the provision of housing, housing services
and the employment of staff, the Association will abide
by the provisions of the Race Relations Act, Sex Discrimination
Act, the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, the Protection
from Harassment Act and the CRE Codes of Practice for Rented
Housing and for Employment as far as is practicable. It
will ensure that its staff, or any agent working on its
behalf, understands and has responsibility for the application
of equal opportunities and that failure to comply with the
policy will be a disciplinary matter.
01.02
No person or group of persons applying for a job, or contract
or for housing with the Association or person applying for
Board Membership will be treated less favourably than any
other person or group because of their age, disability,
gender, marital status, colour, appearance, religion or
sexual orientation.
01.03
The Association undertakes to notify all tenants, prospective
tenants, Board Members and staff of the adoption of this
policy and to make the CRE Code of Practice for Rented Housing
available for inspection.
01.04 The
Association will ensure that all staff receives training
and guidance on this policy to ensure that they clearly
understand their position in law and the implication of
the Association's policy.
